Wedding Speeches

Sunday, July 4th, 2010

Iwas asked question the other day about in all the research I have done how long does a normal wedding speech last for. Well there is no black and white answer to that however where ever you read about wedding speeches the advice is to keep them short. Why you might ask?

Normal weddings have many speeches. There can be the best man wedding speech, father of the bride and sometimes groom speech, matron of honour speech, the groom’s speech, and the speech that you see more and more of now is a bride’s speech. There will also be the reading of the telegrams. So if the wedding in going to incorporate all of these speeches and there can be more, time is of the essence because the guests do not want to listen to long drawn out speeches that will end up concluding late into the night.

The guests want to celebrate mingle with each other and basically let their hair down and enjoy the night. So when planning your wedding actually have a time table and tell the speakers they have an allotted time and it would be very much appreciated if they could stick to the time limits so everyone can enjoy themselves.

After all it is not the Academy Awards everyone is not there to listen to wedding speeches all night long. Plan the night have timetable and a rundown sheet and stick it it and everyone then will be able to celebrate the night out.
